ESSURE Hysteroscopic sterilization

Procedure Description:
In office tubal sterilization

What To Expect:
PIWH is pleased to be able to offer this in office procedure to occlude the fallopian tubes through hysteroscopic placement of coils.

Preprocedure:
After appropriate informed consent we plan the procedure in conjunction with Depo provera or another hormonal preparation of the lining of the uterus. The night before and day of the procedure you take Motrin to help prevent tubal spasm. At the time of the procedure we administer medication to keep you comfortable. The procedure takes 10-30 minutes during which time you can observe your tubes on a TV monitor.
No other preparaton is necessary.

Postprocedure:
We ask that you have someone to drive you home after the procedure. You may resume all normal activities. All of our patients returned to work the following day. At 10-12 weeks from the procedure we MUST do an Xray(hysterosalpingogram) to confirm tubal obstruction.
